2011 Music Festival!

This past weekend we attended one of the highlights of the year for our family - the Lake Itasca Family Music Festival! This is their 6th annual year, and our our 6th consecutive year of attending! I don't have a lot of time for a long post (I'm keeping busy editing EXCELSIOR for the Aug. 15th early bird deadline) but I wanted to put up a few pictures! I hope to post a few videos in the future (which I failed to do last year - I apologize)!!

They were SO GOOD, and you could tell they desired to honor the Lord through their music! I've already been listening to the CD they signed for me - they are such a sweet family! :-)

There was lots of great bands on the side stages as well, including our good friends the Fraser Family (below is pictured the three girls - Abigail, Sara, and Deborah)!

The Hartley Family
Anna Hartley (the oldest girl) and I have been corresponding over the years since we met at this festival 5 years ago, and I am so glad to have her as a friend! Their family is very down-to-earth, and we enjoyed visiting with them, hearing their great music, and listening to Mr. Hartley's Sunday morning message!

The Wissmann Family did the kid's program again this year, and I enjoyed it immensely!! ;-) They taught everyone Bible verses and songs, and did a skit on the life of Mary Slessor. It was all very well done!

The best part of the whole weekend for me, I think, was just visiting with friends! There were SO MANY people I knew there, I really wish I would have gotten pictures of all of them! I'm already looking forward to next year! :-)

Editing

I've been keeping busy with editing EXCELSIOR lately - we've been working on ADR (automated dialogue replacement), so check out the blog to see some behind the scenes videos!

Here are a few pictures of Caleb and I trying to record over his lines exactly how he did them, and also to get some sound effects.

I had to be mean and push him around because he wasn't doing the right thing . . . ha! Just kidding, actually we needed some sound effects of Caleb getting pushed against a truck for the opening scene. :-) (we had towels over the laptop were because it was sprinkling on and off)

Having fun with the microphone :-)

EXCELSIOR is coming along well, PTL!
Now, back to editing . . .

Fourth of July

Here are some more pictures from our Fourth of July celebrations . . .

We had Grandma and Grandpa K. over on the 3rd, and we enjoyed shooting off fireworks!

Those smoke bombs were so fun and pretty - Lydia really enjoyed lighting them. :-)

We loved spending time with you, grandma and grandpa!

The next day we went to Turtle Lake to visit our adopted grandma and grandpa. We enjoyed watching a boat parade, swimming, and grilling hamburgers!

Independence Day Storm

On the evening of July 4th we had a bad lightning storm come through (it also had tornadoes in some areas, but not by us). Mom and I were up later that night than the others, and we heard a pop-pop-pop like gunshots - I thought is was just a crack of thunder, but mom said she thought lightning may have hit a tree. We couldn't tell, even though lightning lit up the sky almost like day! Sure enough, the next morning I was relating the lightning story to my siblings at breakfast, and I looked out the window as I was speaking and saw that one of our trees was down! It was a big one, but thankfully it wasn't THE big one (we have a HUGE cottonwood that would have made a hole in the ground if it had fallen!). We were glad that it didn't fall on the road, and that it wasn't close to the house. It did cause quite the excitement around here!

The main damage it caused was to our nicest pine in our tree line. It completely took off the branches on one side so the guys had to cut it down.

You can see the fallen tree on the bottom left of the below picture. It was big, but pales in comparison to the BIG cottonwood!!

Happy Independence Day!!

2 Chronicles 7:14

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
