Letter #2 and #3 and Phone Call from Caleb

Today and last Friday we got two more letters from Caleb (yay!) and on Sunday we got to talk to him for an entire TWELVE MINUTES!!! It was awesome to actually hear his voice! Sadly, we won't hear again from him until three more weeks (from that Sunday). But, we will continue to get his letters every Friday, and the ALERT blog is updated occasionally too. There's a lot of pictures on there of the guys hiking, so check it out! :-) Also, go HERE and click on Unit 47. Download it and scroll down to the Bravo Third to see a really great picture of Caleb and the guys in his squad! We appreciate your prayers (and of course so does Caleb)!! :-)
Here are a few tidbits of information from his last two letters and phone call . . .

The recruits aren't allowed to use pronouns, so Caleb has to call himself "this recruit." From his phone call he said his favorite thing so far is . . . oh wait, you have to vote in the poll to the right there, and I'll tell you later what the answer is!! ;-)

Everything is very challenging for the guys at ALERT, but we think Caleb is doing well. It was great to hear his voice on the phone! We just asked mostly general questions about the food and how he was doing. He had a cold - as did a lot of the guys - so prayers would be appreciated for good health. Also, several guys have had to return home due to injuries, so please pray our stuntman doesn't get himself hurt!! ;-)

"This week was crazy. We did the mini hike, the 3 mile hike, camped out, did navigation classes and trips. On Sat. it was one of the worse days of basic so far. One of our squad mates had to go home because of his injury. He was such a central part of the team. It was really really hard on him and the rest of us to see him leave. But it was God's will so it was best."

"Thank you for all the letters and notes. :) Keep them coming!! This recruit could really use more."

"I was SOOOO glad to talk to you guys today [Caleb writes his letters usually on Sundays]. Wish it could have been longer, but was glad that we got what we did. I really miss all of you and can't wait until graduation. It's going to be quite the ceremony from what I hear . . . These 3 weeks have gone by so fast and so slow all at the same time. Keep praying and sending letters."

Again, please check out the ALERT blog to see pictures, and thanks a million for praying for Caleb! And don't forget, if you want to send him a letter or e-mail just check out his blog (http://ckstuntman.blogspot.com/) and scroll down for the info! :-)

It sounds like it's being a very profitable time for him... will certainly pray. It must be very exciting when you get those letters in the mail! :) ~Hayley R.

Yes, we LOVE getting his letters in the mail! It makes me think of people in the old days who had loved ones moving far away, and they could only correspond through "snail mail!" ;-)

Thanks so much for the prayers - we really appreciate it!
