Puppy Update

Well, friends, I've got some good news and bad news about the expected puppies . . . first, the good news is that my dog (Mercy) is doing great! The bad news is she had to have an emergency c-section late Sunday night and into Monday morning. So I got two hours of sleep this morning. :-)

Here we are at the clinic before she heads back for surgery

Caleb and mom came along and we kept each other company while waiting (and of course we drank coffee to keep awake!!!)

More bad news . . . . Mercy had four puppies inside of her, and three were already dead. It was heartbreaking to hear, and we were all REALLY disappointed. We were all hoping for more than four (she was looking rather big!), and for them to all be alive! BUT, the good news is that an adorable, healthy, strong, kicking little girl is still alive!!! :-)

As you can imagine, she's very precious to all of us and we're doing our best to insure that she makes it through the first delicate weeks of life. We've decided to keep her in memory of Mercy's mother who passed away in February. Continued prayers would be appreciated that she keeps growing strong without any problems!

Mercy FINALLY started attaching to "puppy" today and allowed her to nurse without me having to hold her down. She was afraid of "puppy" at first and wasn't sure where on earth she'd come from!! :-)

Now they are very contented with each other. :-)

Filming with Friends

A couple days before Caleb's graduation (post coming on that soon!) one of Caleb's roommates from ALERT, Clifford, and his brother, Delmar, stopped by our house on their way home to Canada from a trip to the eastern US. We had a lot of fun playing volleyball, swimming, eating ice cream, and - since they're into filmmaking like we are - of course we just had to make a short film together! We came up with a spur-of-the-moment storyline and shot everything within about 3 hours the next morning before they had to leave. We had a blast and I can't wait to post the finished product on my blog. Sadly, I'm having some computer issues and must wait until I buy my long-awaited new computer before finishing the editing! :-)

Delmar did the filming, I did audio, Caleb and Clifford were the actors/stuntmen and Daniel and Lydia helped out where needed. We really had to rush to get everything done in time before brunch!

Mom snapped this picture of all of us after we filmed

Here are a couple screen shots from our short film . . . hopefully we'll be able to get the finished product up soon!!

NOTE: No news on the puppies yet . . . I'll be sure to post pictures as soon as she has them!! Keep the votes coming! :-)

Guess How Many . . .

. . . puppies my dog Mercy will have (poll on the right)! She's due any day now, and I'm pretty excited! I've been trying to have her bred for quite a while, and finally it worked! PTL! Prayers would be appreciated as this is her first litter, and she's almost 7 (old for a dog) so I'm a little worried and hoping everything will go okay.

Isn't she pretty?! :-) If you know of anyone who wants a German Shepherd Dog, point them this way!! :-) I'll be updating sometime next week with the answer - thanks for the prayers!

When my cousin Lauren came from the Twin Cities for a visit a couple months ago, we were looking at an old piture of ourselves and realized we had BOTH kept the same shirts since then, and Lauren had brought hers with! So we just had to take another picture! :-)

Thanks to Paul and Maria for these photos!! And thank you to the S. family for allowing me to teach in their home (just look at the picture above - things never go crazy with their family!!)!! :-)

Also, I want to recognize Casey and Dayna who were sick and unable to make it to the recital. I'm so proud of all my students - great job everyone!
